porcupine tree at the heineken music hall
it took 'em nearly 14 years to take the long way from 20 visitors at a january 1994 show in de nieuwe pul in uden, in the southern part of holland, and a superb show for a crowd of 3.500 people at the heineken music hall in amsterdam, but porcupine tree did it, on 5 december 2007. congratulations to all involved! thanks to band and management we were able to shoot some pictures which can be seen here.

bass communion ii vinyl edition with exclusive tracks
out now is a release both steven wilson and tonefloat were looking forward to: a vinyl edition of bass communion's second album dating from 1999, if only for the superb carl glover artwork. it is with pleasure that we now announce a lavish double vinyl edition of bass communion ii, which collects the six tracks from the original 1999 cd releaseplus wide open killingfeld part 2 and wide open killingfeld part 3, exclusive to this release. by tradition, the album comes with a superb gatefold picture sleeve. the first edition of 500 (numbered!) copies comes on white vinyl. bass communion ii (tf42) can be ordered now from our store, which a special offer if you also order the recent fear falls burning and ex-wise heads releases.

fear falls burning's when mystery prevades the well, the promise sets fire on tonefloat
when mystery prevades the well, the promise sets fire is the first in a series of brand new studio drones fear falls burning is currently recording. with its highlight being the full-length studio album 'frenzy of the absolute' for the belgian conspiracy records, scheduled for release in 2008, this exclusive vinyl for tonefloat is the initiation of a change in method and playing for fear falls burning. not only has he turned around his studio in order to accommodate the new performances but the subtle incorporation of new elements will bring out an extra dimension in the vintage fear falls burning drone. this lp features two pieces, one per side, that are equally harmonic as powerful. fear falls burning's approach to playing the guitar chords changed, the production is different and the inclusion of guest musician dave vanderplas on subtle cymbal percussion marks this new tonefloat release as the first gentle step in fear falls burning's further exploration of the drone. when mystery prevades the well, the promise sets fire (tf38) is out now and can be ordered from our store.

ex-wise heads lp celestial disclosure on c
late 2006 we invited ex-wise heads to explore their adventurous sounds over two sides of vinyl. rising to the challenge, earlier this year colin edwin (also of porcupine tree) and musical partner geoff leigh crafted the 40 minutes of music exclusively for this release. the results can be heard as celestial disclosure, two long flowing pieces, one for each side of the album, which blend ambient music, minimalism, electronics, atmospherics, deep bass and ardent flute and saxophone solos. unmistakably ex-wise heads, celestial disclosure has a more intense, devotional and spiritual atmosphere than previous releases, and is certainly the most exploratory material they have released to date. celestial disclosure is out now and can be ordered now from our store.

roger waters - hello (i love you) roger waters on tonefloat
crazy diamond is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2007. most of you will know crazy diamond through it's in house label tonefloat. however, some might know we're one of the world's leading pink floyd specialists, through our mailorder outlet floydstuff.com. to link both activities proved very hard but here you go. tonefloat is now very proud to announce the vinyl release of hello (i love you).
performed by pink floyd icon roger waters, it’s his first vinyl release since 1992’s audiophile classic amused to death. hello (i love you) is a brand new song taken from the original motion picture soundtrack the last mimzy, and written by roger waters and academy award winning composer howard shore. the new track has been co-produced by james guthrie, the grammy award winning producer whose credits include the wall, and the recently released pulse dvd.
hello (i love you) is cut and pressed by the same company that produced the legendary vinyl edition of amused to death, and recently pressed the 30th anniversary vinyl edition of dark side of the moon. the 12” audiophile edition of hello (i love you) is limited to 2.500 copies pressed on 180grams multi-coloured vinyl (250 copies), 180grams coloured vinyl (750 copies) and 180grams black vinyl (1.500 copies) and comes in a lavish picture sleeve. the multi-coloured and coloured editions have both sold out, but the black vinyl edition is still available from our store.

fear falls burning - once we all walk through solid objects fear falls burning once we all walk through solid objects 5lp
when fear falls burning and tonefloat got together in early 2006 to discuss the project once we all walk through solid objects, we knew it was going to be a complex release. what we knew then was only the tip of the iceberg. the artwork alone was something that took over six months of preparations to get it the way we wanted - and even required a completely new sleeve format at the plant. what followed was back luck upon bad luck with the pressing itself. that said, we're relieved to say that the set is finally ready to be shipped. we thank you all for your patience and hope you will enjoy the 10 tracks as much as we do!
once we all walk through solid objects collects 10 original and brand new fear falls burning pieces, reconstructed by renowned artists including bass communion (steven wilson of porcupine tree; uk), final (justin k broadrick of jesu; uk), (frans de waard of beequeen/freiband; holland), harvestman (steve von till of neurosis; usa), birchville cat motel (new zealand), byla (of dysrhythmia; usa), aidan baker (of nadja; canada), johannes persson (of cult of luna; sweden), jefre cantu-ledesma (of tarentel; usa) and stefano pilia (of 3/4hadbeeneliminated; italy).
all tracks showcase the wide context of the music of fear falls burning. not only by the origins of the musicians, from postrock to industrial, but also by the way the original material was treated. not only by reworking their way, but also by adding scapes, tools and instruments. each and every contribution makes up a full vinyl record album side.
the clear vinyl has been pressed in 180 grams quality. the packaging concept with custom x-ray style metal ink printed pvc inners comes with custom printed file copy type sleeve which is open to one side. this implies that some minor folding might have happened to this side of the sleeve - only adding to the unique character of the concept in our opinion. a few copies of this 5lp set are still available from our store.

steven wilson - steven wilson canvas print steven wilson canvas print
2007 not only marks the tenth anniversary of tonefloat's first release, a set of three 7inch singles back in june 1997, this year will most likely see tonefloat's 50th release. before that happens, we wanted to celebrate this tiny little landmark with some special releases, the first being a 50x50cm (approximately 20x20inch) canvas print of the cover of steven wilson's unreleased electronic music. issued in a one-off limited edition of fifty (!) copies only, this high quality framed canvas print comes hand numbered and signed by steven wilson. we've only got a few copies left, please contact us for details.

i.e.m. - i.e.m. 1996-1999 i.e.m. anthology gets a vinyl release
in 1999, tonefloat started a collaboration with steven wilson by releasing the an escalator to christmas ep. we've had many request for this release since, and not without reason. i.e.m.'s early years are with doubt milestones in steven wilson's recording carreer. following the cd release on headphone dust of the i.e.m. 1996-1999 anthology, we were please to announce the release of i.e.m. 1996-1999 on vinyl, just because we love that album, and think it's making up a great vinyl album, complete with deluxe spotvarnished gatefold sleeve. since we somehow suspected there's more of you who'd love a vinyl copy, we have pressed a limited run of 500 copies on 180grams white vinyl. you can order i.e.m. 1996-1999 from our store.

theo travis - slow life theo travis returns to tonefloat with slow life
out now is the 2lp slow life by theo travis. following the pleasant collaboration on theo's eleven bowls of acidophylus flute salads c release, it was an easy decision to release an album on tonefloat.
originally released in 2003 on cd, this 2lp set of slow life captures theo travis at his best. 11 tracks, each recorded live in the studio, using what he describes as his "system of ambitronics", a series of foot pedals enabling him to build up layered hypnotic loops of alto flute and spontaneously overdubbing other flute lines. occupying a territory between the minimalist excursions of steve reich and the loop innovations of robert fripp and and brian eno, slow life is probably the most ethereal theo travis album to date. "despite the complexity of the arrangements, the nine pieces, each recorded live in the studio, are characterised by a sense of space, freedom and clarity. the overlaid flute loops resist entanglement and the listening experience is almost entirely restful," according to wire magazine.
two previously unavailable tracks have been added to the original cd. moreover this vinyl edition includes the 18 minute song behind these silent eyes, an bass communion construction of unreleased material from the slow life session, that will remain exclusive to this release. slow life was produced by andy jackson, commonly known for his work with pink floyd, and david gilmour (on an island), and carefully mastered for vinyl by peter van vliet (the use of ashes). this 2lp set is limited to a one edition of 500 copies on 180grams black and white vinyl only, and comes in a gorgeous spotvarnished gatefold sleeve by carl glover. you can order slow life from our store.

centrozoon lp 'never trust the things they do'
a marble calm lp 'blue turns to grey'

it took us a bit longer than expected, but quality comes first. we had to recut a record so meet our standards, and by the time they were ready, christmas had arrived with all its postal delays. that said, we are very happy with the two newest additions to our c imprint: centrozoon, and a marble calm.
centrozoon are tim bowness, markus reuter and bernhard wöstheinrich, with help from a variety of guests including king crimson's pat mastelotto and bill munyon. with never trust the things they do centrozoon deliver never trust the things they do, a vinyl compendium to compact disc album never trust they way you are. without doubt c's most in your face release to date with a superb blend of strings and rhythms, covered in time by tim bowness' mesmerizing voice. produced by bpm&m (pat mastelotto and bill munyon).
simply amazed by a marble calm's debut album, based around peter chilvers' sounds, jon hart's marimba and beautiful layered vocals, tonefloat is proud to be able to welcome a second release on c, blue turns to grey. their vinyl debut features the voices of sandra o'neill and steve adey. c releases are available from our store
