After a short tour with UK band Porcupine Tree, The Use Of Ashes starts working on a
new release, which ends up being a six-track ten inch called Albion Moonlight,
released on both white and black vinyl. Albion Moonlight receives various
acclaiming reviews in magazines such as OOR, Fret and Alles Op 10. The six tracks on
Albion Moonlight reflect the change The Use Of Ashes has gone through, a more
extravert sound. Stunning fuzzy guitars, heavy electronic drums and the ever
adventurously used Mellotron. Sleepflow premiers the presence of Maarten
Scherrenburg as a lead singer with a Barrett-esque song structure. Albion Moonlight
gets it's climax with the most futuristic track the band ever recorded - A White Horse.
At the end of 1998 the band writes a song called 24.25.12.98 for a special Crazy Diamond/
ToneFloat onesided multicoloured vinyl single, a Christmas freebie.
